Welcome to AIA

Successor of VIA, founded in 1961

 
  • Upon decision of members´meeting on June 23, 2012 in Bonn the Academy of Iranian Physicians and Dentists in Germany, shortly AIA, (Persian: آکادمی پزشکان و دندان پزشکان ایرانی‌ در آلمان) was established. AIA replaces the Association of Iranian Physicians and Dentists in Germany contemporary and compatible with its scientific contents and academic activities. The Association of Iranian Physicians and Dentists in Germany, shortly VIA (Persian: کانون پزشکان و دندانپزشکان ایرانی مقیم آلمان, shortly: کانون, Kanun) was founded on October 14th and 15th, 1961 in Cologne / Germany. From 1961 to 1980 the association’s activities were centered on professional interests and social matters. These activities were almost completely suspended until 1988 due to the situation in Iran. During the following four years a reorganization of the association’s structure took place. Since 1993 its objectives also include the realization of various national and international scientific and humanitarian projects. The association emerged as a respected scientific organization in Germany from modernization and restructuring in the years 2001 and 2002 and was accredited by the German Academy of Postgraduate and Continuing Medical Education, and the German Medical Council, state NRW. Professor Dr. Alireza Ranjbar, president and founder of scientific complex of VIA contributed exceedingly to this development. From 2001 till June 2012 VIA has organized forty-one postgraduate courses and continuing medical educational congresses which have been certified form the German Academy of Postgraduate and Continuing Medical Education and the German Medical Council, state NRW, and earned a total of 269 CME points. The VIA has assigned the dentists till June 2012 a total of 171 CME points on the base of scoring of BZÄK /DGZMK of the German Dental Association, and the pharmacist from November 2009 till 2010 a total of 52 CME points. From 1963 to 1980 VIA issued its publications in 38 volumes of the journal “Jahane Pezeshki” (World of Medicine), which was renamed to “Kanun Medical Journal” (ISSN:1617-6618) in 1993.

International Avicenna Award of Excellence in Teaching and Research in Medical Sciences

 

According to the proposal and concept of the President and founder of scientific complexes of the VIA, Prof. Dr . Alireza Ranjbar, in 2006 the executive board has decided to honor the people who have contributed remarkably to the teaching and research in medical sciences with „ International Avicenna Award of Excellence in Teaching and Research in Medical Sciences” of the VIA.

In 2009 the successful realization and continuous implementation of this scientific concept has been integrated into the constitution of the VIA as the highest scientific award of the VIA.

International Award for Excellence in Culture, Literature and Art

Because of the cultural background of the VIA, and at suggestion and according to the concept of the President of the VIA, Prof. Dr. Alireza Ranjbar, the executive board has decided to award a scientific prize in another scientific category for the first time in 2011.

The “ International Award for Excellence in Culture, Literature and Art” of the VIA has been set up to honor the people with distinguished scientific and academic merits to the Iranian culture, literature and art.

Gundishapur University

The Preparations and decision for the founding of the Gundishapur University was made by Ardaschir Papakan the founder of the Sassanid Empire.

Many historians report that after Ardashir had finished the business of government, he was occupied with scientific work, translations of books and comparative studies.

He endeavoured to combat the bigotry of belief among the petty bourgeois and to improve and expand the education of the people.
